| The
first historical notices of the Castle date back to X century with the beginning of the "incastellamento" and the costitution of the first built-up area. |
| About the year one thousand the Castle was formed only by Norman Tower. The Normans, in Campolattaro from 1043 to 1139, built the Tower to defend the neighbourhood of the Castle. |
| In
the 1138 the town was fired by order of King Ruggiero, because the population's rebellion against his authority. Signore of Campolattaro was Goffredo, Barone of the Contea of Buonalbergo, Pagano di Montefusco's son. |
| L'architettura vera e propria of the Castle begin in the XIII century. In the 1284 Signore of Campolattaro was Nicola de Adenulfo. |
| In the 1350 the town was a part of the Contado of Benevento, and it was named, in a "Bolla" of Pope Clemente VI, Castrum Campilactari. |
| In April 25, 1589 became Fief of the di Capua Family, whose first Marquis was Giovan Battista. In 1609 became Marquis, and Signore of the Fief, Fabrizio III. He gave it to Giovan Battista di Capua II in the 1612, as wedding gift, whit the Lands of Morcone and the Fief of Ordichella. |
| In the 1659 Domenico Marra di Capua sold the "Marchesato" for 8.000 ducats to Michele Blanch . |
| In the 1831 Gennaro Blanch sold the Castle to Giovanni de Agostini da Circello. In the August of the 1861 the Castle was sacked and fired by "briganti". Giosuč de Agostini intervened to save the harsh reaction of Piemontese troops commanded by General Cialdini. |
| Today
the Castle of Campolattaro is property of two Families, de Agostini and Ciannella. |

legends were related to the Castle: The "jus primae noctis", The "trapeto oleario" and the wandered Ghost, The end of the Wicked, The "trabocchetto" and violent deaths, The walled up alive lovers in the Tower, The kind Ghost and the Ancestor's Bedroom. |
